Sounds easy right? If only. Finding content to share is not as easy as it sounds, often if you start sharing content that doesnt resonate with your audience you may start seeing your social following on the decline. audience is eager to find information on learning to play the guitar, maybe avoid giving them content about the intricacies of mastering the bongos. Always ensure that all shareable content meets your audiences needs and resonates with them.

2. Selling instead of teaching

Any goof content strategy is first meant to educate and then sell. Avoid mentioning yourself or your business unless this information is part of the call to action at the end of the article. Aim to solve a problem and you will soon start to look like an expert in your field. Once you have achieved this trust with your audience, they will appreciate your advice ten-fold.

3. Sharing content that is not evergreen

The secret to successfully sharing content is by providing value that will be used both today and in the future. The true meaning of “evergreen content” is something that provides information just as true five years from now as it does today. The figures may change with time, but the facts remain the same. You can always come back to the article too with updated figures, avoiding the need to spend money on new marketing material.

4. Over-sharing

If you are afraid that your audience will miss the content you shared the first time and decide to keep on posing it repeatedly, at some stage it will become a bit spammy. Remember, timing and variety are everything when sharing content. Do not re-post the same article over and over again. Granted, you can share someone’s content without them knowing it. However, this is not the best way to go. By acknowledging the content creator(s) through a simple tag in your post, it will make all the difference in the world. Give a shout-out to the author or site where you got the content and you will definitely get more likes, retweets and reshares, even from the content creator(s) themselves!
